Health Coaching Experiential
As part of the AFMCP course, attendees have the opportunity to participate in five sessions of personalized health coaching with support from a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. Functional medicine practitioners regularly prescribe lifestyle changes as a core part of a patient's treatment plan. Participating in these coaching sessions allows practitioners to experience the value of health coaching from a patient’s perspective and further understand the process of facilitating behavior change.
Participation in health coaching is optional. Early registration is encouraged as spaces are limited. It is important to note that this is a client-focused experiential opportunity for lifestyle behavior change and not a training on coaching techniques.
Discover if health coaching is right for you by watching this informational video.
Important Information and Coaching Timeline:
- Health coaching enrollment is open June 27 - July 11, 2025
- You will be matched with a health coach after July 15, 2025

As part of the AFMCP Online, program participants receive a complimentary stool analysis lab test. IFM has partnered with Genova Diagnostics to offer participants this additional training opportunity. Please refer to this handout, also located within your course materials, for information on license requirements and how to request the lab test. Last day to request a lab kit is August 11, 2025.
* Be sure to utilize the exclusive links provided in this handout, as they are specifically designed for IFM lab request forms. Avoid visiting the general lab company website and utilizing a previously existing account or creating an account.
Need assistance with placing your lab kit order? Take a look at our Lab Kit FAQ >
For Students, International, and Non-Licensed Degree Types
- Genova Diagnostics is licensed by CLIA, the Federal agency regulating laboratories.
Check with the lab to see if you qualify or have additional questions. - CLIA regulations require practitioners to have a licensure scope which allows them to order laboratory testing. Acceptable licenses in all 50 states include MD, DO, NP, PA and APRN.
- Other practitioners may have the appropriate licensure scope within their state.
International: Partners should consult with lab representatives for availability of test kits in countries outside the US.
